Many people who come to Hannah Grimes Marketplace are surprised to see raw milk for sale. Some customers see the glass bottles and fresh cow’s milk and are reminded of days gone by. Others have never heard of unpasteurized milk. Many people are excited because it is illegal to sell raw milk in their home state.
Hannah Grimes is proud to sell raw milk from Flying Cloud Dairy in Alstead. Established in 2000, Flying Cloud is a small, certified organic dairy owned and run by farmer Bill Jahos. The herd is composed of Jerseys and Ayshires, breeds famous for their nutrient dense, high butterfat milk. The cows are grass fed, which means there is no grain in their diet and they graze on the pasture when it is warm and are given hay and balage in the winter. Bill is enrolled in The Entrepreneur Project at the Hannah Grimes Center, a year long program designed to take a small business to the next level.
